Estimated to be at least 1000 years old (with a possibly even older root system) the Balderschwang Yew might just be Germany’s oldest tree.
It’s rooted in the highest village of Germany, located in the south of Oberallgäu, Bavaria.
We visited this ancient arborescence, way up in the clouds (the clouds were sitting low that day) walking the Balderschwang panoramic trail.
For a good portion of the way we were in very cute, but curious company.
Enjoy!
